We are a fluid and elastic group of thinkers and explorers. We practise a culture of care at Bocci that is broad‑minded and deep‑rooted. Our craft requires us to be alert and responsive, and we believe that nurturing the imagination comes from feeding the soul.
We surround ourselves with our object studies in various forms. It can take a minute or a decade for a particular piece to make sense. The products we choose to manufacture are punctuation marks in our ongoing study of matter and process.
Our way of working at Bocci champions flux as much as structure. We call this a state of adhocracy. We do not approach design as a linear process of draw, make and sell; instead we question and we experiment, we share and we learn as we go. No lesson is wasted, no trial is error and nothing we make is thrown away.
Every single Bocci product is handmade. Each one is variously blown, poured, carved, polished, packed and dispatched directly by us. As such, no two products are identical; they are individual, irregular expressions of our research. Our products are precious for their uniqueness, but greater value is derived from their enigmatic qualities too. They are questions in physical form.

Bocci is a design and manufacturing company based in Vancouver and Berlin. Founded in 2005 under the creative directorship of Omer Arbel, Bocci is committed to fostering a lateral and open‑ended relationship between creative direction and craft.
The company launched with one lighting design, ’14’, which became an instant classic and remains a design staple and bestseller. Bocci’s growing portfolio of sculptural lighting is developed, engineered and fabricated in‑house, through an infrastructure calibrated to provide full control over technique, quality and scale.
In 2015, Bocci transformed a historic Berlin building into a showroom and archive. Bocci 79 inhabited a 2,200 m2 / 23,600 sq.ft former courthouse, constructed in 1896, and showcased over a decade of works by Omer Arbel, ranging from pieces in progress, prototypes and ideas, to the complete range of catalogue pieces developed for Bocci.
Bocci 79 closed in June 2020 and we are currently working on our new, permanent Berlin showroom which will open soon.
We don’t define our team by their individual training or qualifications so much as offer a fertile environment for them to experiment in. As a team we place value on living life well. We challenge ourselves, we push each other and we celebrate together. Feeling good means feeling connected to one another and to our different realities.
